Meet Gary – The Heart Behind Adventure Acres

Adventure Acres was built on the belief that kids deserve more than screen time and structured schedules—they deserve space to run, play, and just be kids.

That belief starts with Gary, a lifelong educator, father of three, and coach who has spent nearly 30 years creating safe, enriching environments for children in Middle Tennessee.

From Backyard Games to a Big Idea

The idea for Adventure Acres came straight from Gary’s own backyard—literally. As his kids grew up in the hills of Bon Aqua, their favorite thing to do wasn’t go out. It was to stay home, invite friends over, and turn the yard into their own sports arena. From Whiffle ball showdowns to basketball pick-up games, the backyard became the heartbeat of family fun.

Now, Gary has opened that experience to others—creating a sports-based, screen-free venue where kids can move their bodies, use their imaginations, and make memories in the great outdoors.

A Life Dedicated to Kids and Community

Gary began working with children at just 18 years old as a summer program teacher in Williamson County. While studying education, he launched his first childcare program out of his home, later growing it into a multi-location childcare network serving families across the region.

He is the founder of three beloved local programs:

Bon Aqua Daycare in Lyles

The Learning Loft Academy in Dickson

Loblolly Preschool in Fairview

Each of these centers reflects Gary’s dedication to childhood development, play-based learning, and strong community values.

Gary also holds degrees in Education and Early Childhood Education and has taught in public schools while also coaching youth football—another passion that fuels his commitment to teamwork, confidence, and physical activity for all children.
